Are you a JATC instructor looking to improve your classroom skills or technical
knowledge in a particular area? Perhaps you are a contractor interested in branching
out into new markets. Whatever the case is, if you are looking to enhance your industry
skills and knowledge the National Training Institute (NTI) is the place you need
to be.
The National training Institute began in 1990 as a vision to expand the scope of
training for our apprenticeship Instructors, Training Directors and JATC Members.
Nineteen years later, the NTI has grown from a small program which consisted of
only 5 Training Partners, 10 Technical Presenters, 10 Professional Educators
and 150 participants to the most comprehensive training program in the electrical
industry. Over 1300 participants attended NTI in 2007 and we expect it to be even
bigger in 2008. With over 100 Training Partners participating in the Trade Show,
over 50 Technical course offerings and over 500 JATC Instructors involved in instructor
training with 40 Professional Educators from across the United States. This program
has seen some of the finest instructors, apprentices, technicians and industry leaders
that the industry has to offer.
The National Training Institute has graduated over 1500 participants, giving them
the added edge as they have acquired the skills and understanding of the science
of teaching the trade. Each year seems to surpass our expectations in the numbers
and quality of individuals attending this training institute.
NTI is about the participants. Each year Training Directors, Instructors, and apprentices
descend upon the University of Tennessee’s Knoxville campus to learn, see,
and understand new trends in the classroom and in the electrical industry. Offering
something for everyone, each participant at NTI is sure to find classes that suit
their needs and interests. Whether you are an Instructor working towards your Master
Instructor Certification, a Training Director learning JATC best practices, or an
apprentice being honored for your outstanding classroom performance, NTI promises
to engage and excite all of your senses. Contractors will also join NTI’s
crowd of familiar faces this year with the addition of the Electrical Contractor
(EC) group to NTI.
NTI would not be possible without the support of our Training Partners. From showcasing
new products and answering questions at NTI’s trademark Trade Show to hosting
training seminars that help enhance a worker’s on the job experience, NJATC
Training Partners are out full force during NTI ensuring that the IBEW/NECA workforce
has the most up-to-date industry information available. Our Training Partners are
established industry giants and NTI provides participants with the unique opportunity
to interface with these industry leaders, provide feedback and suggestions, and
learn how to enhance work environments in one convenient location. Our Training
Partners work hard throughout the event to make sure attendees get the information
and products they need to be successful in and out of the classroom.
