The Performance Evaluation is a hands-on evaluation which includes a variety of tasks which must be completed. The tasks are based on an individual’s analysis of a blueprint drawing and a job specification page. These documents provide all information necessary to complete the evaluation. Skills which are covered in the 4-hour evaluation include: - Power Distribution
- Transformers
- Motor Control
- Branch Lighting
- Branch Receptacles
- Grounding
- Safety
- Material Identification
- Tool Usage
Tasks which might be necessary are the installation of raceways, wiring and devices; and the configuration of equipment, to meet the needs of the project. In addition to evaluating skills, the performance evaluation also evaluates knowledge, as many of the tasks require analysis and configuration to complete the described systems. The evaluation is completed as if it is a jobsite and individuals being evaluated are treated as workers with responsibility in completing the project. Contact your Local JATC to determine if they are offering the Performance Craft Certification Evaluation. Individuals in the IBEW/NECA Construction Wireman / Construction Electrician (CW/CE) Program will be contacted by your JATC when you are required to complete the evaluation.
